What Do You Need To FOCUS Most On?

What started as 5 questions I wrote on a piece of paper for myself has turned into a 5 part email series for the LearnSavvy community.

I hope you’re finding it helpful!

In our Circles lately we have been talking A LOT about what to focus on.

Of course, this is totally personal to you and your situation.  However, in actively asking yourself this question and then talking it through with others you can create a lot of clarity.

What to focus on comes up when we talk about anything from our calendars and health to marketing and networking.

Focus is key – we all know that.

But, it is easy to get so jumbled by all the “should do’s”, “could do’s”, and well-meaning suggestions from others that we lose our focus fast.

If we did everything that runs through our minds, we would work 24/7!  And let’s face it, you don’t want to do that.

Focus does come from having clarity (which can be even harder to come by). They really are BFFs.

  • Clarity in the people you serve
  • Clarity in what you offer
  • Clarity in how you offer it
  • Clarity in how you want to show up/how often/etc.
  • Clarity in your priorities, both professionally and personally
  • And so on…

We can get out of sorts when we think we have to do everything, be everything and to do/be for everyone.

On the other hand we can inadvertently create this lack of focus.

Yes, as much as we say we WANT it, we can stumble ourselves up.

Here’s how…
What happens when you have super clarity AND you focus on the next big steps in your business or in your life.

Whether it be that you start that book or project…. that you finally contact certain influencers, mentors, aligned colleagues or finally announce you’re in business.

It means you’re all in!  You can’t look back – only forward! It means you’re serious about stepping into the next phase of whatever it is and that can be scary.

Ask yourself: If I really got focused, what does that mean for my business and life?

:: Does that mean I have to kick it up a gear and start working more hours or be serious how I spend my time?
:: Does it mean becoming more visible?
:: Does it mean putting my work out there and open to critique?
:: Does it mean I have to really commit to this path?

These questions are promoting curiosity as to why becoming focused might be difficult for you right now.

So if you’re finding yourself unfocused…

  • Too many options and unsure which to choose.
  • Not clear on your direction, priorities and any of the questions above.
  • Wishing for guidance, resources, mentors in place to help you filter what’s what. Or simply tell you what to do. (ha!)

This is a great time to stop – reflect on the first deeper questions above and then …

Download the accompanying worksheet to dive into this question and see what it is that YOU need to focus on to accomplish the big goals and dreams you’ve set out for yourself.
