Brené Brown: Why Your Critics Aren’t The Ones Who Count

  • Avoiding criticism can inspire you to stay very small in your career.
  • Vulnerability is not about winning or losing it is about showing up and being seen.

  • When you show up in the arena – shame, scarcity and comparison always have a seat in the arena/stands as well. You need to know (and invite) the critics into the arena.

  • Golden circle: Why – How – What.  People don’t buy your what or your how but your “Why”.
  • Your Why: What is your purpose, your belief, why do you exist, why do you get out of bed in the morning and why should anyone care.
  • Limbic brain controls decision making but not language – so you need people to feel what you’re doing.  They need to connect to your why.
